Best Shoulder Workout Rotator Cuff Exercises

Posted by Mike Behnken, MS, CSCS

I just finished spending 100% of my free time today putting together 2 new pages for my website.

It is interesting because shoulders have been a huge part of my life lately. I just finished pages about rotator cuff exercises and a comprehensive best shoulder workout.

It is very interesting because I just had article I wrote about a shoulder stabilization workout on a fitness community website published a couple days ago.

I had to film the exercise videos today for my pages and the client I was training has had a nagging recurring shoulder problem. I know it is a rotator cuff injury now but I don’t know the origin. I tested the supraspinatus today and the test was positive for rotator cuff pain.

From his information he gave me the injury sounds like more of an Acromioclavicular (AC) joint problem. I read a little information online and it said that arthritis of the AC joint can cause rotator cuff problems so I really don’t know.

If any experts such as physical therapists read this, please let me know what you guess is wrong. I am hesitant to prescribe any shoulder strengthening exercises or rotator cuff exercises for him until I have an exact diagnosis. I told him to visit a physical therapist.

Throughout all my years of exercise science and all the knowledge I have accumulated with my personal training experience I have not really learned exactly when rotator cuff strengthening is beneficial.

As I explained in my page today the best way to keep the rotator cuff healthy is to exercise properly and most importantly, stop if it hurts or impinges the shoulder or rotator cuff in any way.

I even saw some HORRIFIC rotator cuff exercise form on youtube which made me want to call a physical therapist.

All this is in addition to my effective shoulder exercises page which I previo.usly did and has some of my favorite shoulder exercises. Personally I don’t perform too many shoulder exercises in the gym because it seems that sitting here typing is beginning to take its toll on my posture.
