San Francisco Personal Training for San Francisco Personal Trainer

Posted by Mike Behnken, MS, CSCS

Seriously, I’ve been completely attached to my computer chair. In my case, the computer chair is actually an ottoman. Interestingly enough it is my most successful ergonomics success. I started with a cheap walgreens 25 dollar office chair.

The office chair had a back to it. My back was constantly aching when I was using the chair. It prompted me to get a posture chair, the kind of chairs with knee supports where you are in a position of half kneeling, half sitting.

Good news, my back stopped aching, bad news, my knees started hurting. After the butt part of the chair started flattening out, it became an ergonomics nightmare.

Instead of getting a new chair, I moved my desk to my window. I started using a small square ottoman which has been great. No back pain, and only poor sitting posture has got my knees and calves aggravated from sitting so much.

I was joking with someone recently, that sitting is the most terrible thing you can do to your body. I joked I’d be better for my body to get in the ring with the streetfighter Kimbo Slice than sit all day in front of the computer. My latest page on AskTheTrainer.com about Posture Problems has reminded me of all this.

I now forgot why I decided to post on my blog. I was checking out my currently most views youtube video about a lower abdominal exercise called big 40s, which I learned while interning with Oregon State University Strength & conditioning. I was wondering why it was so popular? I have no idea, it’s just a standard abdominal exercise and not even the most effective.  Cool logo Previo.us

I have been so busy with planning out my social network I haven’t had a chance to update FitSF.com I actually started creating a new page which I will use as my main personal training page. I decided my old pages were too difficult for visitors to find information about my personal training service here in San Francisco. The page is titled San Francisco Personal Trainer and will be done in a couple days.
